No, this is not a flash mob on Durban Beach Front, as reported by O, The Oprah Magazine SA, Media 24, but a painting by US Artist Craig Alan.
In the Mandela hype, News 24 and other SA Art news channels misinterpreted what they thought was a form of a “flash mob” tribute on Durban beach to Mandela face is nothing more than a painting by American artist, Craig Alan. Similar works by the artist include portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson.
He will be in South Africa in April to debut this piece in a government ceremony while auctioning this piece off to dignitaries.
